Founded in 1963 on the grounds of the historic Rakowice‑Czyżyny airfield, it preserves more than 200 aircraft, including early aviation machines, World War I and interwar aircraft, as well as Cold War–era jets. Visitors can admire unique exhibits such as rare pre‑war Polish designs, World War II aircraft, jet fighters, helicopters, and a large collection of aero engines, uniforms and aviation equipment. Modern exhibition halls together with original military hangars create a distinctive atmosphere reflecting over a century of aviation history. The museum also hosts educational events, thematic exhibitions and the well‑known annual Aviation Picnic.
