One of the largest and most modern aquariums in Europe, CRETAquarium was founded and operates as part of the HCMR. It is geographically located on the north-western part of the former American Base of Gournes, where together with the premises of the research institutions of HCMR forms THALASSOKOSMOS – the largest centre for marine science and promotion of the Mediterranean sea world in Greece. Especially for the holders of the European Youth Card, CRETAquarium – the Aquarium of Crete offers a 33% discount on the general admission fee (12€), which equals to 8€. The holder of the European Youth Card must present his/her card, along with the other required documents (e.g., ID, passport).

Ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα και πιο σύγχρονα ενυδρεία στην Ευρώπη, το CRETAquarium ιδρύθηκε και λειτουργεί ως τμήμα του ΕΛ.ΚΕ.Θ.Ε. (Ελληνικό Κέντρο Θαλάσσιων Ερευνών). Βρίσκεται γεωγραφικά στο βορειοδυτικό τμήμα της πρώην Aμερικανικής βάσης των Γουρνών, όπου μαζί με τις εγκαταστάσεις των ερευνητικών ιδρυμάτων του ΕΛ.ΚΕ.Θ.Ε σχηματίζει το THALASSOKOSMOS – το μεγαλύτερο κέντρο θαλάσσιας επιστήμης και προώθησης του θαλάσσιου κόσμου της Μεσογείου. Ειδικά για τους κατόχους της Ευρωπαϊκής Κάρτας Νέων το Ενυδρείο Κρήτης CRETAquarium  προσφέρει έκπτωση 33% επί της γενικής εισόδου (12€) ήτοι 8€. O/Η κάτοχος της Ευρωπαϊκής Κάρτας Νέων θα πρέπει να επιδείξει την κάρτα του/της, μαζί με τα υπόλοιπα δικαιολογητικά (π.χ. ταυτότητα, διαβατήριο).
