Originally conceived as an underground tomb, La Rocca features six funerary chambers distributed across three different levels, covering a total area of approximately 129 m². Over the centuries, this extraordinary construction has had multiple uses, evolving from a burial site to a sheepfold, from a prison to a dwelling, and even a stone quarry, demonstrating a deep, living, and continuous connection with the surrounding territory and the communities that have succeeded one another. Thanks to an extensive restoration completed in the early 2000s, La Rocca now hosts a fascinating ethnographic and archaeological museum that tells the rich material culture and ancient traditions of Sedini and the historic Anglona area. Among the exhibited objects are faithfully recreated medieval kitchens, everyday tools and utensils, vintage photographs, traditional agricultural and domestic instruments, as well as a large collection of fossil and mineral specimens. The museum boasts over 500 original pieces dating from the 18th to the 20th century, offering a vivid and engaging glimpse into the rural and cultural life of the area through the centuries. One of the museum’s most precious and evocative treasures is the perfectly preserved Domus de Janas located on the lower level of the structure, one of the few Neolithic tombs accessible to the public in all of Sardinia. This rare example of funerary architecture allows visitors to closely admire carvings, decorations, and the internal layout of the chambers, revealing ancient rituals and beliefs of a distant civilization.
