Short Film Competition by the Filmoteca de Navarra & European Youth Card: A platform for young creators

Are you a young filmmaker with a passion for storytelling? The ¨Filmoteca de Navarra¨, in collaboration with the European Youth Card, is offering a unique opportunity to showcase your talent. This short film competition aims to inspire creativity and artistic expression among youth, encouraging them to share their perspectives on youth through the power of storytelling.

The competition seeks to foster the creativity of young people by promoting the creation of original, high-quality short films. Participants are encouraged to explore the theme of Cinema and Youth, interpreting it through their own lens and delivering innovative audiovisual narratives.

Theme
Films should address topics related to Youth, with a focus on creativity and originality. The freedom to interpret this theme offers participants a chance to dive deep into storytelling that resonates with young audiences.

Eligibility
The competition is open to young people between the ages of 14 and 30, whether participating individually or in teams. Nationality and residency are not restricted, but the participant must hold a valid European Youth Card to take part.

Film duration
Short films must run between 1 and 10 minutes, including credits. Any film exceeding this duration will not be eligible.

Submission format
Entries should be in digital format with a resolution of at least 1080p and in MP4 or MOV formats. Films in any language are accepted, but non-Spanish films must include Spanish subtitles.

Key dates
• Submission deadline: 28 November 2024
• Award ceremony: 19 December 2024
• All entries must have been produced during 2024.

Registration process
To enter the competition, participants must complete a registration form available on the Navarre Youth Institute’s European Youth Card website. A downloadable link to the short film must be included in the submission.

Evaluation criteria
Submissions will be judged by a panel of film experts on the following:
• Creativity and originality
• Technical execution (e.g., cinematography, sound, editing)
• Narrative structure and storytelling
• Emotional resonance

Prizes
The competition offers the following awards:
• Best Short Film (First Prize): €600
• Best Short Film (Second Prize): €400
• Best Performance: €350
• Best Cinematography: €350
• Best Original Music: €350

Disclaimer
Participants retain full ownership of their short films while granting the Navarre Film Library the right to screen their films at competition-related events and store a copy in its archive.

The Navarra Youth Institute may also feature the films in youth-related initiatives.

By submitting a film, participants agree to the competition's terms and conditions. 

The organising committee reserves the right to resolve unforeseen circumstances, with final decisions being binding.
