Kromerówka - Regional Museum in Biecz

Reduced ticket

Kromerówka is a Renaissance burgher house dating back to 1519 and one of the most valuable historic buildings in Biecz. Originally owned by the wealthy Chodor merchant family, it later passed, through marriage in 1607, to the poet Jan Januszowicz, who remodelled the house in 1612, giving it the form preserved today. The structure features a Renaissance entrance portal with the original 1519 date, vaulted interiors and elegant late‑Renaissance architectural details. Although local tradition once linked the building to Bishop Marcin Kromer, research has shown that his actual family home stood closer to the market square; the name “Kromerówka” nevertheless remained in use. Today the house functions as a branch of the Museum of the Land of Biecz, showcasing the town’s history and notable figures. Exhibitions include early editions of Kromer’s works and objects illustrating the cultural and intellectual heritage of Biecz.
