Located on the first floor of the historic Cloth Hall, it became part of the museum in 1879, initiated by Henryk Siemiradzki’s donation of his famous painting Nero’s Torches. The exhibition is arranged into four thematic rooms: Enlightenment, Romanticism, Academic Art, and Realism with early Symbolism. It showcases masterpieces by key Polish artists of the era, including Piotr Michałowski, Artur Grottger, Jan Matejko, Józef Chełmoński, Jacek Malczewski and Leon Wyczółkowski. Thoroughly renovated and modernized in 2010, the gallery combines its historic setting with contemporary museum design.
