The public institution National Theater in Mostar was officially established and started operating on November 28. 1949 in the hall of the workers' association "Abrasevic". On that occasion, the play "Night in Globuk" by the Slovenian writer Matej Bor, directed by Safet Pašalić, was premiered. Although the decision of the then founder contained only a provision stating: "The regional National Theater in Mostar is established", and no other instructions determined its future profile, the National Theater was from the very beginning repertoire, personnel and organization profile as a professional theater house . During that period, help was requested from the National Theater from Sarajevo in order to realize the decision on founding as well as possible, so the actors arrived in Mostar: Saveta Beatović, Slavko Grahovac and Safet Pašalić, who was also the first director of the Theater and director of the first play. Together with amateur actors from Mostar, Trebinje and Vojvodina, they started a great theatrical dream.
