The National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk is Poland’s leading institution dedicated to maritime heritage. Founded in 1962, it spans several historic locations, including its main seat in the Granaries on Ołowianka Island, the medieval Gdańsk Crane, the Maritime Culture Centre, and two museum ships – the SS Sołdek and the famous sailing vessel Dar Pomorza. Additional branches operate in Hel, Tczew and Kąty Rybackie. The museum holds a collection of over 28,000 artefacts, featuring ship equipment, navigation instruments, ship models, underwater archaeology finds, and unique exhibits illustrating Poland’s maritime history and seafaring culture. It also conducts extensive research and educational activities related to marine heritage.
