Digital Youth Work Seminar in Slovenia

Digital competences play an essential role in today's lifestyle and significantly affect the quality of our performance at work.

With the project "Competences of the digital world" Zavod Movin, EYCA member organisation in Slovenia, intended to create a space where youth workers, youth leaders and other individuals or groups, working with youth. Under the pretext of presenting a set of good practices, used to empower youth through the virtual environment.

Since more and more young people are spending their time online, Zavod Mobin has developed a competency model which can help all youth workers to improve their work in the virtual environment. Additionally, they exchanged and developed effective methods for reaching young people through digital media.

The aim of the project was to create a space where youth workers gain new competences in the digital youth work area. Emphasis was put on increasing the quality and strengthening the capacities of work in the field of digital youth work.

Together with other EYCA member organisations – which work with young people on a daily basis - they wanted to realise and discover which are the possible areas of improvement and how to successfully offer useful experiences, information, challenges and rewards for social, political and local participation of youth in virtual space.

The debate was steered towards the question of which are those digital competences that can help youth workers in the process of building safe, useful tools and virtual places, which will empower youth to be more creative, active, mobile, etc. The main product of this seminar was a publication in which they will present the outcomes of the different discussions and a competence model. The publication will be published until the end of 2020 in English and Slovenian language.
